Offered here is a highly collectible Colt Model of 1911 U.S. Navy chambered in .45 ACP. Serial number 96073 places this pistol within the documented 1914 Colt U.S. Navy contract range. It features the desirable “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. NAVY” slide marking, “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” frame marking, Colt patent and Hartford address markings, double-diamond checkered wood grips, a wide-spur hammer, long trigger and lanyard loop.
The pistol has been refinished in a gray military-style finish and presents attractively overall. The markings remain readily visible, and the grips show age-appropriate handling and wear. This is an excellent opportunity to own an early U.S. military Colt with genuine Navy-contract history.
The pistol retains a period-correct early Colt barrel displaying “P” and “H” proof/inspection markings, along with additional factory inspection marks on the barrel and frame. The visible internal components appear consistent with early Colt production. As these components were not serialized to the frame, exact factory originality cannot be guaranteed.
